Pitcher of the Week (July 4-10)

New York-Penn League: Wendell Yost, Vermont 1 G, 1 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 9.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 SO, 0 SV After posting a 2.63 ERA in eight games for Savannah in the South Atlantic League, Wendell Yost has dominated the New York-Penn League, going 3-0 with a 1.08 ERA in his first four starts for Vermont. After not allowing a run over 13 innings in his first two starts, the 6-foot-3 southpaw was finally touched for four runs -- three earned -- on four hits and three walks against Oneonta on July 5. But the Virginia native bounced back to post a seven-inning, complete-game three-hit shutout against Jamestown in the second game of a twinbill on July 10. Yost also walked two in the game but never allowed a runner to reach third base. NYP hitters have managed to hit just .170 against the Expos hurler. Please note that Vermont is a demotion from Savannah.
